Conference on the Hungarian Revolution of 1956

The Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1956 is one of the most important events in the history of Hungary in the 20th century. The 60th anniversary of this great historical moment is celebrated this year countrywide.

Eszterhazy Károly University Institute of History and Doctoral School of History, along with the 1956 Institue Foundation is organizing a 3-day-conference to encourage and facilitate thinking together in the form of historical and social scientific workshops, especially with younger scientist. Some important partners joined this enterprise, such as Pázmány Péter Catholic University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the History and Political Science Department of The Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Students and the International Students of History Association. The aim is to discuss research results of multiple disciplines on 1956's antecedents and consequences in a broad time frame (1945 to 1990).
Time and venue of the conference: 8 to 10 September 2016, Eszterhazy Károly University, Lyceum (Eger)
The program will be aviable soon on the official website of the conference. The sections and the presentations will be open to anyone interested.
